A record-breaking ten MWA artists will appear on the world-renowned Metropolitan Opera Stage throughout the season, with several making eagerly anticipated company and role debuts.
Lise Davidsen and Freddie De Tommaso open the 2026/27 Metropolitan Opera season tonight – 22 September 2026 – in a thrilling new production of Verdi’s Macbeth under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Lise Davidsen makes her eagerly awaited staged role debut as the iconic Lady Macbeth and Freddie De Tommaso returns as Macduff.
Later in the season:
Gerald Finley returns as the scheming Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, while Alexander Köpeczi reprises the imposing role of Ramfis in Aida.
Vida Miknevičiūtė makes her company and role debut as Minnie, alongside Christopher Maltman, who returns to the Met making his role debut as the ruthless Jack Rance in new production of La fanciulla del West for the formidable Metropolitan Opera’s New Years’ Eve premiere.
Mihai Damian makes his company and role debut as Cecil alongside a stellar cast in Maria Stuarda, following his recent successes this summer in his company debut as Germont, Marcello and as Baritone soloist in Carmina Burana at Arena di Verona.
Elena Villalón returns as Glauce in Medea, conducted by Carlo Rizzi, following her success as both Amore in Orfeo ed Euridice and Nuria in Ainadamar.
On the concert platform, Lise Davidsen, Freddie De Tommaso, Gerald Finley and Erin Morley will take part in the Diamond Jubilee: 60 Years at Lincoln Center Gala, joining “opera’s brightest stars” to celebrate this landmark anniversary.
Ekaterina Gubanova and Erin Morley will join the Metropolitan Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 8, conducted by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
