Recent successes have fast established Lithuanian soprano Vida Miknevičiūtė as one of the leading lyric-dramatic sopranos of our time. With a repertoire spanning both opera and concert settings, she has performed with prestigious orchestras and opera companies such as the Bayreuther Festspiele, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Wiener Staatsoper, and Berliner Philharmoniker, earning admiration for her powerful stage presence and emotive interpretations.

Miknevičiūtė’s 2026–27 season highlights include her highly anticipated company and role debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Minnie in a new production of La fanciulla del West under the baton of Keri-Lynn Wilson; her returns to Staatsoper Hamburg as Sieglinde in Die Walküre, the Bayerische Staatsoper as Senta in Der fliegende Holländer, and the Wiener Staatsoper as Marie in Die tote Stadt. She also joins Opernhaus Zürich on tour to Paris and New York as Freia in Das Rheingold and Sieglinde in Die Walküre, and appears as Chrysothemis in Elektra at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the baton of Daniele Gatti. On the concert platform, Miknevičiūtė appears as the 2nd soprano in Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with the Orchestre de Paris and Klaus Mäkelä.

Last season’s highlights included her anticipated role debut in the title role of Christof Loy’s production of Fedora at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and her company debut in her signature title role of Salome at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. Further highlights included her returns to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, starring as Sieglinde in Die Walküre under the baton of Christian Thielemann; the Finnish National Opera and Ballet as Chrysothemis in Elektra; Staatsoper Hamburg as Lisa in Pique Dame; and the Bayerische Staatsoper in the title role of Elektra under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski. On the concert platform, Miknevičiūtė starred in the annual New Year’s Eve Gala with the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and performed Sieglinde in Die Walküre with both the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Daniel Harding.

Recent operatic highlights include her highly anticipated debut at the Bayreuther Festspiele as Sieglinde in Die Walküre and her U.S. debut in the same role at Santa Fe Opera. She made a highly acclaimed debut as Salome at Teatro alla Scala and has since performed the title role at the Wiener Staatsoper, Finnish National Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Bayerische Staatsoper. Further highlights include her debut at Victorian Opera Melbourne as the Countess in Strauss’ Capriccio; Marietta in Die tote Stadt at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, Semperoper Dresden, and Staatsoper Hamburg; Lisa in Pique Dame at the Semperoper Dresden; Jenůfa, Chrysothemis in Elektra, and Elsa in Lohengrin at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden; Elisabeth in Tannhäuser and the title role in Giuditta at the Bayerische Staatsoper; Senta in Der fliegende Holländer in Wiesbaden and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Hanna Glawari in Die lustige Witwe at Opernhaus Zürich. Previous successes also include her debut as Sieglinde in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new Ring production at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and at Teatro di San Carlo, as well as Chrysothemis in Elektra at the Bayerische Staatsoper and Salzburg Festival.
Recent highlights on the concert platform include a concert version of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt at the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival; Wagner’s Die Walküre at the Sydney Opera House under the baton of Simone Young; and Wolfgang Rihm’s Das Gehege with the Berliner Philharmoniker, also conducted by Simone Young. Further highlights include Act I of Die Walküre with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and Brünnhilde in Siegfried with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra.
Miknevičiūtė studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the University of Music in Leipzig before joining the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich. She was then a member of the Opera Studio at Staatsoper Hamburg before joining the Staatstheater Mainz as an ensemble member, where she performed roles including Elettra in Idomeneo; Tatjana in Eugene Onegin; Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte; Margherita in Mefistofele; Violetta in La traviata; Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg; Marguerite in Faust; Blanche in Dialogues des Carmélites; Mimì in La bohème; Elisabeth in Don Carlo; and Amelia in Simon Boccanegra.
