Vida Miknevičiūtė

Miknevičiūtė’s many highlights of the 2025/26 season include her anticipated role debut in the title role in Christof Loy’s production of Fedora at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and her company debut in her signature title role of Salome at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. Further highlights include her returns to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, starring as Sieglinde in Die Walküre under the baton of Christian Thielemann; the Finnish National Opera and Ballet as Chrysothemis in Elektra; Hamburg State Opera as Lisa in Pique Dame; and Bayerische Staatsoper in the title role of Elektra under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski. On the concert platform, Miknevičiūtė stars in the annual New Year’s Eve Gala with the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and performs Sieglinde in Die Walküre with both La Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Daniel Harding.

In the 2024/25 season, Miknevičiūtė performed a concert version of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt at the Dvořák Festival in Prague, which she also performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper and in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production at Opernhaus Zürich. Other highlights that season include her performances in the title role of Salome at the Wiener Staatsoper, Finnish National Opera, and Staatsoper Hamburg. Further engagements included Chrysothemis in Elektra at Staatsoper Unter den Linden; Senta in Der fliegende Holländer in Wiesbaden; and Hanna Glawari in Die lustige Witwe at Opernhaus Zürich. She also made her U.S. debut as Sieglinde in Die Walküre at Santa Fe Opera, and on the concert platform she performed Wagner’s Die Walküre at the Sydney Opera House and Wolfgang Rihm’s Das Gehege with the Berliner Philharmoniker, both under the baton of Simone Young.

Last season, she made her highly anticipated debut at the Bayreuther Festspiele as Sieglinde in Die Walküre and at Victorian Opera Melbourne as the Countess in Strauss’s Capriccio. She also appeared as Lisa in Pique Dame and Marietta in Die tote Stadt, both at Semperoper Dresden; Jenůfa, Chrysothemis in Elektra, and Elsa in Lohengrin at Staatsoper Unter den Linden; Elisabeth in Tannhäuser and Chrysothemis in Elektra at Bayerische Staatsoper; Marietta in Die tote Stadt at Staatsoper Hamburg; Senta in Der fliegende Holländer at Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Act I of Die Walküre with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

Previous successes include her debut as Sieglinde in Tcherniakov’s new Ring production at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and at Teatro di San Carlo; and her highly acclaimed debut as Salome at Teatro alla Scala. Elsewhere, she has sung Chrysothemis in Elektra and the title roles in Giuditta and Salome at Bayerische Staatsoper; Brünnhilde in Siegfried with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra; and Chrysothemis in Elektra at the Salzburg Festival.

Miknevičiūtė studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the University of Music in Leipzig before joining the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich. She was then a member of the Opera Studio at Staatsoper Hamburg before joining the Staatstheater Mainz as an ensemble member, where she performed roles including Elettra in Idomeneo; Tatjana in Eugene Onegin; Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte; Margherita in Mefistofele; Violetta in La traviata; Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg; Marguerite in Faust; Blanche in Dialogues des Carmélites; Mimì in La bohème; Elisabeth in Don Carlo; and Amelia in Simon Boccanegra.
