In December, Stanislas de Barbeyrac made a much anticipated house debut at the Teatro alla Scala. Fresh from a role debut as Jason in Cherubini’s Médée in Berlin, de Barbeyrac reprised the role in Milan in a new production by Damiano Michieletto, and conducted by Michele Gamba. Michieletto’s production sets the drama in a contemporary palace, and focuses on the plight of Medea’s children.
‘Stanislas de Barbeyrac…sang with an energetic tenor, exuding a somewhat heroic quality befitting a Greek hero…his performance was enjoyable, bolstered by commendable acting skills.’ – Laura Servidei, Bachtrack
‘He sang his music with golden tone and a grateful sense of line – not to mention impeccable clarity of diction – sustaining the high-lying music with warmth and ease, the registers fully integrated” – Opera Traveller
