'Maltman was also a highlight, not just his character but his vocal performance standing as a worthy rival to Falstaff. The natural edge in his voice means he can move quickly between comic and threatening qualities.'

New York Classical Review, March 2023

'Christopher Maltman dominates the stage and has the vocal stamina and subtlety the role demands. His Credo shocks, as it must, but Maltman's prowess as a recitalist means he weaves the web of insinuation around Otello irresistibly too.

The Guardian, July 2022

'Making his role debut as Iago, baritone Christopher Maltman gave a remarkable potent performance, communicating Iago’s evil with disturbing persuasiveness [...] Maltman was that ‘demon’ and this was a brilliant performance of astonishingly concentrated dramatic and vocal focus.

"The vocal cast was excellent. Christopher Maltman's Wotan was remarkable, his voice authoritative and tormented, with a firm emission."

"British baritone Christopher Maltman embodies a burning suffering Amfortas, which consumes his voice, simply dazzling with dramatic intensity."

'Christopher Maltman, here in the title role, flaunts a well-balanced, strong vocal instrument, and with a confidence and ease in both singing and acting ... succeeds in his greatest intent and that is to charm the spectator, as evidenced by the long final applause'
