On 22 and 24 August the Norwegian National Opera presented two outstanding concerts of Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. The all-star cast led by Edward Gardner included Gerald Finley in the title role, Brindley Sherratt making his debut as Daland, Stanislas de Barbeyrac as Erik, Anna Kissjudit as Mary and in one of the most eagerly anticipated role debuts, Lise Davidsen as Senta, who took on the role especially for this occasion. The performances are set for a later release on Decca Classics.
