As Waltraute, Kai Rüütel-Pajula excelled in another of the opera’s crucial confrontations, bringing just the right mix of vocal luxuriousness and fervour.

The Guardian

The Estonian mezzo-soprano Kai Rüütel-Pajula reprised the role of Waltraute from Walküre… She is a brilliant singer with the greatest future… Her voice is strong yet beautiful and it was a perfect assumption on every level.

Seen and Heard International

Kai Rüütel returns to Sonyetka with her warm mezzo-contralto… Her declamatory lines are delivered with precision and passion (spellbinding even in the low register) despite the limited lyricism of the role.

Olyrix

…The superlative Kai Rüütel stands out with her meaty and well-projected voice.

Classique News

Kai Rüütel-Pajula was another star on the night: her dramatic and vocal skills gripped the audience almost palpably during Waltraute’s confrontation with her errant sister.

Bachtrack

As Fricka, Kai Rüütel has a strong mezzo-soprano and crystal-clear diction, making it understandable why Wotan has to give in to her demands.
